Otis, MA – Farmington River – Class II+
Latest News Update for Farmington Slalom:
We can blame this on the drought, although the Tolland state forest management can’t allow us to camp or otherwise be there after dark, and aren’t even supposed to coordinate a release with us, because of COVID-19.
If it wasn’t for the no camping and no release coordination, I’d hold off a bit longer in hopes of lots of heavy rain, but since that won’t solve this year’s issues, there’s no point in waiting.

Race Site Description:
Camping is available FREE at the race site, courtesy of Toland State Forest, Thursday thru Sunday nights. Portable Toilets will be provided. Tents will not be allowed on the Route 8 side of the river. Tent camping space is located across the bridge and left through the gate. RVs are not to park so that they are exposed to traffic on Route 8.
Parking is plentiful along both sides of the pull off. Do not park along Route 8 with out getting completely off the pavement.
Spectator access is available for the bridge over the river at the upper course. Be aware of occasional automobile traffic using the bridge. Access is good all along the pull off as it’s only a few steps to the river the entire length.
